Newly Installed Ikea Kitchen

I'm renovating a 1979 split level and completely gutted the kitchen. Just completed installation of an Ikea Adel kitchen, along with Kashmir granite countertops. It's not quite finished yet, but I'm loving it so far. Stop by and take a peek at all the details!

It's looking great. Can't wait to see the finished product. About your sink? I really liked that type of sink too but then read in Consumer's Report that they crack if you drop something in them. I was so disappointed when I read that item so I am glad to find someone who has experience with this type of sink. The sink I really liked was the Blanco brand also. In your blog it sounds as if you have had previous experience with this type sink. Please tell me all your experience was good ...»
(I hope). They have such great colors and look super nice with granite counter tops. Oh, and I don't think I have dropped anything heavy in my sink in over 30 years!

Hi, Connie, I have had a Blanco granite sink in my old house & loved it. Never had a problem with cracking or dropping anything in it, so I am confident it will be a good choice again. I love this sink and it's extra deep and wide, so should hold any big pans I might have.

Great project Rhoda! I too have used several Blanco and Elkay granite sinks at our projects over the last few years, and we have always had good experiences with them. No complaints about durability or cracking, etc.. and great stain resistance.

I'm curious how you like working with the Ikea products?

Hi, Hamtil! I love the Ikea cabinets now that they are installed. It's not for the faint of heart, putting together the cabinets, installing them all, and putting in the hardware, drawer slides, etc. I did hire an installer to install them, but my dad and I put them together in 2 days. Took awhile to figure out all the drawer slides and how all the hinges went on, but it was a happy day when it was all said and done. I would highly recommend Ikea overall. Good looking, durable, and ...»
cost effective! You just have to have some patience in getting all the parts & pieces put together. Took me 4 trips down to Ikea to get it all done. Luckily it's only 30 minutes from my house.

Great feedback. Definitely good value IF you're willing to do the work! I've put together a few minor items for clients over the years, but never a whole kitchen. I could imagine it's time consuming.. and a test of one's patience. Thanks again.

Rhoda: This is just absolutely gorgeous! Your cabinets...and yes, the sink, are so perfect. Ikea. Who would have guessed it would be THIS good?

And, wanted to say just how much I enjoyed your talk last weekend: very inspiring!
