Kathy Bowles on Nov 17, 2014I think it is an item that might be used by a banker, or postal worker to moistened a finger for counting money or sorting paperwork. For example, water would go in the little finger sized "trough" and there would be a little sponge under the area where the holes are to catch extra water. It seems like I saw something like this when I was a child in our small town bank.Helpful Reply

Camille Carlin on Feb 08, 2015What a fun question. I'm thinkin' Kathy Bowles is getting close. Could it be a moistener for a banker to moisten the paper straps that go around packets of counted money? Looks like the trough would be put in place to add water to the reservoir. Then the paper strips could be drawn over a sponge or other moistened material in the reservoir, up through the slot and over the little holes to get the excess water off. Sure hope someone can solve this.Helpful Reply
