DIY Display Shelves

Looking for a quick and easy way to display your collections? Check out these quick to install DIY display shelves.
Screw a 1x2 into the wall as your brace, then screw a 1x8 into the top of that and VOILA- easy display shelf! We painted ours the same color as the wall to put the focus on the collection, and even at 72 inches long it doesn't sag or lean.
Try to put as many screws as possible into studs, and space your screws about a foot/foot and a half apart. I used Gorilla Glue and screws to attach the 1x8 to the 1x2 to make sure it was extra secure, especially because the shelves I installed were quite long.
These look great above a window- I installed the 1x2 directly above the moulding so it tricks the eye into seeing just a floating shelf.
Enjoyed the project?
