Turn that unwanted twin bed into a useful bench!

I absolutely love this idea. Your children are growing up and it may be hard for you to throw their old bed. Rather than stowing it away in an attic, because you just can't part with it, re-purpose it into a fabulous bench! This can be done with any size bed, but is probably easiest with a twin. Use the headboard as the back of your bench and then cut the footboard to make the both sides. Build the bench part in and . . . voila! A great re-purposed heirloom.

I made a small one out of a youth bed but never thought about using a twin bed. I will have to try this.

a pair of benches and a coffee table push together to make a twin bed when guests visit. (i.e. kids come back or let the grandkids visit)

I would put a shelf on the bottom so I could put some baskets in there for extra storage.

I thought about that Rebecca, or making a flip-top for additional storage. You can never have enough storage!

One of my sons did this about 10 years ago for a 4H fair project. We had found a full size bed at the side of the road and took it home for him to work on. Turned out really nice and it is still sitting in my entry.

I was just at a yard sale where she had a bed sitting in the garage. I told her to check this out.
