The Residences At The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain on Nov 19, 2014Hello! Yellow and Grey kitchens are very in style and sleek looking. Something like this -- http://www.housetohome.co.uk/product-idea/picture/10-best-mixed-finish-kitchen-designs/4 -- you could paint what is currently blue to matte grey. Hope this helps!Helpful Reply

Kimm at Reinvented and RoadKill Rescue on Nov 19, 2014I like the gray idea, be sure to keep it light so that the room doesn't look too dark. Gray will look beautiful with the white cabinets.Helpful Reply

Gail Salminen on Nov 19, 2014@Loretta Clark I think I would stick with yellow maybe just a lighter tone. Blue goes very well with yellow. If it is a lighter hue it becomes more neutral and conducive to many colours to mix in.Helpful Reply

Sheri Ketarkus on Nov 20, 2014Have had yellow, red and green kitchens. Favorite was red. And I will be repainting my now green one red as it was the kitchen color that was the most 'me'! I don't pick colors because they r 'in style', I go with whT I like. And have only been disappointed when not doing that. Follow your heart, not the magazine articlesHelpful Reply

C on Nov 20, 2014Like Sheri, I'm a lover of red too :) But with that tone of yellow it would look like McDonald's LoL. I love your idea of terra cotta! But the right shade of grey would be fantastic as well. {I have both grey & orange in our home with chunky white trim like your picture} I think that your decision lies within your own décor..... based on your own style, your furniture, your accessories & the lighting in your space. Try standing in different corners of your home & spend several minutes looking towards your kitchen but looking at "the bigger picture" when you look at your kitchen ;) See how it blends with the rest of your space.... I think it will help you decide between grey or terra cotta.Helpful Reply

Mi on Nov 20, 2014Gray would be a more contemporary choice. Red would be a more french country choice. The yellow is very bright and a gray would soften it. If I could offer one other suggestion -if you need to keep the cabinet space, consider moving your cabinet above the sink to the wall, opening up the visual of the kitchen a bit more. I can't tell if they are working doors on both sides, but I had that situation once in a home and took doors off both sides, just using the open shelving. I no longer had to bend down to talk across the room!Helpful Reply

Barbara Burnham on Nov 20, 2014I think the yellow/gray combo is on its way out and repainting cabinets is far from fun or easy. I would select a rich taupe that will later go with warm or cool colored walls. You could even use a dark wax on them after painting to give them a custom look. Don't go cheap on hardware. That makes or breaks the overall look. Doesn't have to be expensive though-look at Ikea.Helpful Reply

Mikell Paulson on Nov 21, 2014Light yellow and grey or blue would be beautiful! Also very happy colors! I have terracotta and can't wait to paint it . It looks like refried beans! Looked nice for about a week and got old very fast!Helpful Reply

Aubrey L on Nov 21, 2014Designers in our area are saying the yellow/gray combo is still very popular and by no means is on the way out. I would feel comfortable to continue using these colors without reservation if I liked those colors.Helpful Reply

Marion Nesbitt on Nov 21, 2014Love yellow - a happy colour. Maybe just go a shade or so lighter. Your cabinets look soft white to me. Yellow-white-charcoal/black are dramatic. You could punch things up by adding some black or charcoal accessories for a sophisticated change.Helpful Reply

Loretta Clark on Nov 29, 2014Thank you all so much for your input. I'm glad to have it, and it makes my choice much more clear and deliberate. Gray it is, the sophistication I'm looking for, and am no longer afraid of. The cabinet blocking the view appears to be over the sink, but the sink is actually against the other wall under a window. This cabinet houses the microwave and a vent hood, and it certainly not ideal, but that is for another day. Love to you all.Helpful Reply

Loretta Clark on Nov 30, 2014Okay Marianne, I will, but it may be a while. We don't tend to get in much of a hurry around here. My floor is wood, so I chose granite with some of the same colors in it. Let me post them now, and will post again when project is finished. (We have too much going on to start it before Christmas, so it will be after the New Year.)Helpful Reply
