Acorn Cap Birdseed Cakes

As the weather turns colder, it’s time to remember our little backyard friends. I’ve been wanting to make some bird seed cakes for the longest time and finally took the time to whip some up.
I had some extra acorn caps from last year and used them to make these little cakes.
You can find the recipe and more detailed instructions on my blog at the link at the bottom of this post. They're really simple to make and the squirrels love them. They grab them up before any birds can get any.
This photo was taken just a few minutes after I took the above photos. I left one little birdseed cake out while I cleaned up. This guy pounced on that cake so fast and then talk about "eat and run" - he took off with the entire cake. Some how I imagined he'd stick around longer.
I set out some more of the cakes - buffet style and they are certainly enjoying them. (Recipe and more details on my blog at the link below).
