Great Green Cleaning Solutions for Floors

Different kinds of floors request different cleaning approach. Here's all you need to know about both hard and textile floor cleaning
I would like to tell you that cleaning the floor is fast and easy and all you need is to take a pair of micro fibre slippers and once a week wipe everything with a damp mop. Unfortunately, things aren't like this and you have to spend almost equal time cleaning the flooring as you would if you were cleaning the carpet (sometimes even more). The good news is you don't have to use any potentially dangerous cleaning solvents in the process. Act green and make your own 100% eco-friendly detergent.

Cleaning tile flooring

This recipe will not only make the tiles in your home sparkling clean, but also deodorize everything in the room. This cleaning solution is powdered and it will last much longer compared to liquid homemade cleaning solutions. For the making of this detergent you will need half a cup soap flakes which you should blend into fine powder. You will also need diatomaceous earth, baking soda one cup each and a teaspoon of essential oil.

Get a jar with a lid and pour all the ingredients inside stirring until you get a homogeneous mixture and place the lid over. Leave the mixture for several days, so that the essential oil can spread evenly, then you can start cleaning. When you're dealing with tile floors, you'll have to scrub on your knees because only mopping the tiles won't work. The dirt build up in the joints isn't easy to remove, especially if we're talking about the kitchen floor because of the grease.
The right way of cleaning textile floors

Before you apply any cleaning solutions to the floor, no matter if it is marble, tiles, wood, or textile it is a good idea to remove solid debris using a mop. You can also use a vacuum cleaner, especially for carpets and rugs, but in tiles and marble it makes an awful sound. Of course, you'll have to remove anything form the floor like chairs and other small pieces of furniture. Then, you should take the appropriate cleaning solution and dissolve it in a bucket of water in the right proportion.

I recommend that you use as little as possible detergent, especially if it contains soapy ingredients. You will have to rinse it afterwards. Use a soft brush to avoid scratching the surface, but some old stains require tough approach. Therefore, take a small sponge and use the back end for these kinds of spots. Remember to let the floor dry before you step on it because you will leave footprints.

P.S. If you don't want to do the hard floor cleaning by yourself, just call a cleaning company and let the experts do the job for you.
