I have those flowers and was just commenting that I was glad I put them by the side of the driveway and not around the patio - the bees are having a field day! -
Bees do love sedums. Another great reason to plant them. -
I wondered, mine have split in the middle. Is that because it was so dry here or because I neglected to cut them short when they first started growing? -
I noticed almost the same scene when I got home a few minutes ago - a pretty pink sedum and one extremely large bumblebee and 6 small butterflies. -
Dee, it isn't uncommon for them to split in the middle. I went out a bit ago and their are full of bees, weather is due to change from the great temperatures we're having to cooler ones, we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Lynne P, your plant is very beautiful but so is the essential work of the bee to keep it that way. -
@Dee: I find that sedums like "Matrona," and, to a lesser extent, "Autumn Joy," are more prone to flopping/splitting if they're not getting enough sun or are getting too much water. I don't think drought would be the cause. -
@Douglas- Thank-you for clearing that up, mine are the Autumn Joy and this is the first they have split since I started cutting them back when they get about a foot high several years ago. -
Mine are the Autumn Joy as well, I've been keeping an eye on them to see what they do this year with the extreme drought we've had.

The bees LOVE my sunflowers too.
