I posted about this chair this past summer (http://www.hometalk.com/diy/paint/furniture/q-what-would-you-so-with-this-old-chair-3925066) and I finally got around to doing something with it! Having a little sewing skill and even less upholstering skill I decided to give it a shot. I'm super pleased with the results! What do you think?
This is the before. Straight out of an old basement, it was very dusty!
Stripped off all the old upholstery and cleaned her up a bit. She's looking better already!
I washed the wood with oil soap and then I used Old English oil, that's all they needed!
I found some old curtain panels at the thrift store for $5. per panel. It was enough to do the job,
I still need to attach the cording along the outer edge, but look how pretty she turned out!

Good for you to tackle this beauty! A well-made chair can have many lives thru different fabrics!

Great way to practice upholstery with curtain panels from a thrift store! You've inspired me to MAYBE tackle a twin hide-a-bed that has fallen victim to several cats over the years. It just needs some TLC to make it happy again.
