Julee, we are all praying for you & we all enjoy your postings so you must get well soon. I agree with Becky H - your doctor should make an exception & see you well before 10/12.
Julee S, want to share the Miracle Grow website I put at the bottom with you and any one who might be interested in it. By the way, did it in 2 different comment boxes because I was having problem when putting it together with the whole typed comment.
Julee S, so sorry to hear what u r going through, but is always good to know what one has, and that is where u r. WHAT A SPIRIT YOU HAVE, AND I LOVE IT!!! I will keep u in my prayers, and please do continue being the strong person u r.
Thank you everyone! You're all so sweet! I decided to call and try to get in to my internal med doc sooner and was able to see a Physician's Assistant who works with my doc. When she read my medical history (an believe me, it's A LOT longer then I've let on to be) she asked my doc to come into my appointment and help her. The first thing he did when he came in was hug me and my son (my son has a traumatic brain injury and epilepsy and cannot be alone so we do everything together - well,

almost everything). He thinks that when my small intestine blocked and ruptured in August it caused a mild case of peritonitis and then inflamed my pancreas. I'm back on a clear liquid diet (popsicles, jello and broth) until the 12th when I see him again. His thoughts are with my digestive system shut down it will heal itself. I've already lost 23 pounds (which isn't bad, but it has been the hard way) and will no doubt loose a few more. No worries...
Oh Julee, when it rains it pours. I'm so glad you got to see your doctor though. Let's pray this clear liquid diet will do the trick. And bless your son. How old is he?
Chris is 29. His accident was 16 years ago (when he was 13) . He was riding a four wheeler without a helmet (unknown to us at the time). He was air-lifted as "Chris Doe" and he flew right over us as we were on the way to the trama center. One of the longest days of my life. He has been to Mayo Clinic four times, University of Cleveland, Rush University in Chicago and is now receiving treatment at the University of Michigan. He has approx 150 seizures a year. He is quite the trooper though and everyone just loves him. I'm attaching a pic of him.
Oh Julee, what a wonderful picture of you and Chris. I can't even imagine the fear and pain you all must have gone though, Chris physical and you mental when all that happened. Just breaks my heart. Kids just don't understand how dangerous "fun" can be. Such a handsome young man. He's right in between my children's age.
And you look way too young to have a 29 year old son!
Oh Julee S how utterly terrifying his accident had to be for both of you parents!! I would have to struggle to keep my head on the way to the hospital!! Good God! He must be having a siezure every other day! Has medicine discovered any new treatments for these seizures? It's been a number of years since I worked w/doctors, so I'm not up on the latest treatments.

Great mother/son picture! Good looking couple there!! (He has your eyes and nose.) Becky's right; you don't look old enough to have a 29 yr. old son.
You must be quite relieved to hear the doctor's opinion re: your pancreas; it's certainly better than other diagnoses (that might require prednasone for treatment)! That's a really rough way to lose 23#!! I keep telling my hubby one of the reasons people gain weight as they age is nature's way of making sure we survive serious illnesses that occur as we age. If you'd not had that 23#, you'd have really been up a creek! Do they have you on some type of nutritional drink to supplement your vitamins, minerals, etc. while you go through this?
We were lucky with our son.........the action seeking dare devil. He suffered 3 concussions wake boarding (behind our ski boat). He and his friends would take our boat out to wake board and water ski. The first concussion cost him his short term memory (that of the past 6 mos.); fortunately, he'd JUST taken his college midterms. With that, we warned him he must stop doing the dangerous wake board tricks least he suffer permanent brain damage. With the second concussion, we told him if he didn't stop the dangerous tricks, we'd sell the ski boat to prevent him from having the Mohammed Alli Syndrome or worse. With the 3rd concussion, we sold the ski boat. I told him I didn't give birth to him to watch him age in a nursing home or pay for his funeral. Boys!!!!
Julee S , I am so happy that you were able to see your doctor & the diagnosis sounds so much better than your last posting. You two look like brother & sister, not mom & son.
Julee, thankfully your diagnosis is manageable!! I'm so sorry for your son. Seizures are not fun! He sure is a handsome kid! I can see in his eyes he has a good heart :) No way you look old enough for a 29yr old son :) My daughter is 29 also :) doesn't the time fly by?!!?
Thanks everyone! Yes, I'm 54 and have earned every grey hair that I have!
Becky ~ Thank you for you kind and concerned words. This pic was taken (with another that was chosen) to be in the newspaper along with a TBI (traumatic brain injury) article about his accident and treatment.

helicopter that was flying over us. My husband threatened to leave me at the side of the road unless I got ahold of myself, which I was able to do. Chris has been on ten different medications, non which have worked, and has had his brain opened and an electrode grid put in to try and find the exact point from which his seizures originate. We spent a month at Mayo Clinic to do this very extensive testing which was not successful because his seizures originate from both sides of his brain (so a resection (removal) was out of the question). He had a VNS (Vagal Nerve Stimulator) implanted, which works like a pacemaker and sent electrical currents to the brain, but after it misfired twice and made his seizures much worse it was removed eight months later. His seizures cluster and he has three different kinds so at times he can go up to 30+ days seizure free. It's when he has 6 to 10 in a day that can be quite a challenge. He has broken his face (orbital socket and jaw) and damaged his brain again by falls during a seizure so we stay within ear shot so we can hopefully catch him so he doesn't get hurt. The dog is amazingly accurate in predicting "seizure time" so we pay attention when she starts to hover and sleep with him. He out weighs me by 50 pounds so my husband had to take off work each time I have been hospitalized and then for some time after my surgeries. You mentioned prednisone... I have been on it for over 20 years because of lung disease, which I am officially disabled because of, and it seems to be the culprit in my current health issues because it makes all of your organs and bones very fragile. They say it has thinned the walls of my intestines and this is why I am having so much trouble now. No nutritional drink either. I usually eat very healthy and make nutritional shakes every day but they say no until my pancreas settles down. It's amazing that one can not feel headachy and weak when only eating popsicles, broth and jello. I hope that your son doesn't have and will never have any deficits from his concussions. We always say "it's only a concussion" when in fact a concussion IS a brain injury. I'm glad that you stuck to your threat and sold the ski boat, it may have very well saved his life.
Wow Julee. I can't imagine what your life is like, but I never would have guessed with all you've shared of your gardening and projects. You're certainly an inspiration to the rest of us. God bless you and your son. Well hubby too because he's taking care of your both at times. ♥♥♥
Julee, I just want to say I'm in awe of your strength and uplifting attitude. It also had to make you probably think twice about just how much of yourself and your family you wanted to share with all of us. I appreciate your openness and candor.
You certainly don't look old enough to have a son who's 29!! He's a very good looking young man!! It is amazing what dogs can sense about us - was it trained or one of those dogs who can sense

something about his people? We'll all continue to keep you and your family in our thoughts & prayers. You are an inspiration to us all!!
Thank you all for your wonderful words. Please don't make me into something I am not. I am just like everyone else, my story is just different then your own. Each of us faces and overcomes challenges in their lives and each of our experiences are unique and valuable to the world. Our choice is to either be an inspiration to others or teach them who the do not want to be, all through how we live our lives. If our thoughts and actions are out of love then our intent is pure. If our thoughts

are out of fear then our actions will follow accordingly and in so we will teach others who they do not want to be. Either way we teach one another each and every day. Our personal choice is always "Who do YOU want to be this day?" Blessings and make it a good one!
Sharon B, my secret is my passion for gardening. I've grown things as long as I can remember. I even have house plants older then my 30 year-old son. When I bring them back into the house every fall they are soon growing volunteer impatiens in their pots all winter long. My Christmas cactus is already blooming and will do so two more times before the spring. I think I have must have chlorophyll running through my veins.
And you look way too young to have a 29 year old son!
