A trio of experts weighs in on the steps you need to take to create a structured, stress-free kitchen!

1. STORE STUFF WHERE YOU USE IT

Thanks all for the comments! Custom storage suited to the way you live and cook is SO critical to designing a beautifully functional kitchen. To those who are going to be completing their own kitchen remodel, take a look at our Kitchen Remodel Questionnaire: http://www.akatlanta.com/Kitchen-Planning-Qu... We ask clients all ...»
these questions so we can create their kitchen design based on how they use the space. For those of you in New York and Minnesota, If you'd like to borrow this and show it to your remodeler, you are welcome to!Esther, pots and pans can go in roll-out drawers inside deep bottom cabinets, or in the lazy-susan in the corner. Baking sheets are typically in easy to reach skinny cabinet boxes near to the oven.

This kitchen make me jealous. I only have one pull out for the pots, skillets and lids. My husband might even like this because it might get me to cook more often. I'm difinitely clipping this.

Some great ideas here. I think it's essential to really use all the space you already have before worrying about building an addition or something! Using space under cupboards for storage and space-saving ideas like slender spice racks are good ways to free up space.

If only I had a kitchen like this!:-) I could really go for simplifying.. I'm finding that the older I get, I forget where I put things. Then find after I don't need anymore. No, don't have Alzeimers (spelling?) . Just CRS! LOL!!!!!!

Glad you found this helpful - It can be a daunting task, but reorganizing the kitchen based on use can really make a difference in your daily routine. Sometimes the space just doesn't work and then a complete renovation is the best solution, but this is a great way to start! Thanks everyone!

We added several custom pull out shelves to our small garden home kitchen and it was one of the best things we've done for ourselves. Makes it so easy to get to those "back of the shelf" items and no more crawling around on our aging knees to find something. Well worth the investment!

When we did our kitchen maybe 10 yrs. ago, I wanted the pull-outs for cookie sheet storage at the very base of my lower cabinets, but they weren't available from Home Depot, where we got our Kraft Made cabinets. A lady at Curves told me she had just had her kitchen done and had them. They would have been so nice to have.
