How to repair hollow doors?
-
Adrianne C on Nov 24, 2014I've done it by patching it with various things like drywall putty, plastic wood, spackling and it turned out well. Just need to sand it when it's dry and then seal it before painting or it'll bleed through.Helpful Reply

Lucid Designs on Nov 26, 2014Adrianne nailed it. Assuming that the doors don't have that faux "wood" texture, any super-hard non-shrinking drywall filler or plastic filler would work. Sand, prime, and paint the entire door. The door that has some veneer missing might be a little more difficult to deal with because it's such a thin layer. In that case I would use Bondo... automotive body filler. It doesn't shrink at all, and works well in difficult areas.Helpful Reply

Lee R on Feb 08, 2015I had a large hole so I glued a piece of wood inside the hole first to prevent my patching material from falling in. It worked great.Helpful Reply
