Making essential oils

I'd like to make a big batch of orange essential oil. But because I don't want to have to eat all of my oranges, can I take dried peelings and,add them to the alcohol every few days, or eat the oranges and let all of the peelings dry for days until I get as much as I want before I put any of the peelings into the alcohol?
