Ugly RV couch, needs new life

Don Goldwyn on Dec 07, 2014Get some fabric and staple it over the top, or if it is not too difficult take the old fabric off and renew it,keep the old fabric intact and you can use it as a template it is not too hard to do using a hammer and upholstery tacks or an industrial staple gun.Another idea for you is to wash it and dye it a different colour. Good luck. This video may be of some help:- http://youtu.be/CamnznmHZDAHelpful Reply

Tracy Murphy on Dec 07, 2014Have you considered fabric paint. If the material isn't too worn you could go with a solid color that matches the rest of the update1 marked as helpful Reply

Jan Loehr on Dec 07, 2014Yes the easiest way is to paint this fabric a solid color..there are lots of tutorials on painting fabric chairs on the internet...I have done several in my home...mix regular acrylic paint with equal parts water and paint several coats on the seat...great results with little $$ and moderate effort!Helpful Reply

Carol Little on Dec 07, 2014I, also, had a horrible looking couch. I purchased a solid color double bottom sheet and put it on, then covered it with a pretty quilt. Twin size works best!! Love the solution... and inexpensive as well.Helpful Reply

Carole on Dec 07, 2014Buy or make a slip cover that can be easily removed when you need to turn it into a bed at night? Covers up the ugliness during the day!Helpful Reply

Lori on Dec 12, 2014I bought a cover that was made to protect a couch from pets. I got it from Walmart and it was really inexpensive but anyone who sews could make it. It is just basically a square blanket with arms and would cover your couch. I just got a plain brown one but if you made it you could do any thing. Just picture a square quilt with each corner cut out.Helpful Reply

Dianne Anderson on Dec 16, 2014I certainly understand what you mean by ugly furniture in an RV. We bought one that was used 2 years ago. The recliner and the dining cushions were hideous and the window cornices were abominable. I found a cool green microsuede for the cushions and recliner and a flowered material for the cornices. I covered the cornices myself and had a local man do the recliner and cushions. Now, my used motorhome has NEW life. Good luck, but if you think it's so ugly, I'd buy some material and have it recovered.Helpful Reply

Renata on Feb 10, 2015Call me weird but I like the material. I'd just get some nice comfy tan pillows and a throw to tone it down. But I recovered mine, just because it wasn't very soft, I'm really into soft , it was a lot of work but doable.. a lot cheaper than having someone else do it.Helpful Reply

Linda on Jun 05, 2016If you are not up to slip covers. Chalk Painted fabric is awesome if you don't have too much texture. I little texture results in an interesting pattern. Its time consuming but well worth the effort. I've done several upholstered chairs with great success. Worst case scenario you could still slipcover.Helpful Reply

Darla on Jun 05, 2016The simplest and easiest way to change it would just be to put a throw cover or bedspread or even a fitted sheet on it. A futon cover might fit, but might not. Or you can buy some of those ready made slipcovers made for couches or love seats. With those, you can just wash them in the laundry when they get dirty.Helpful Reply
