Linda on Dec 08, 2014I have switched to all flocked hangers. They are super thin and I can get more clothes in my closet. These are nice but take up way too much room.Helpful Reply

Liliana Wells on Dec 09, 2014If you crochet, you could make covers for them with a matching sachet and give as gifts. You could sell them when you have at a garage sale. People still like these.Helpful Reply

Jan on Dec 09, 2014needless to say I'm not imaginative at all but these strike me relating to ballerina. after that your on your own. Maybe donate to a dance studio? They would also be useful for hanging up wetsuits because of their thicknessHelpful Reply

Sharon Slater Miller on Dec 09, 2014well if your not creative these are lovely hangers and the older generation still love these perhaps you could donate them to a apartment for seniors so that the residents could choose some for themselves they are still great for hanging sweatersHelpful Reply

Linda on Dec 09, 2014Thank you everyone for your responses. My sister passed away 2 years ago of pancreatic cancer. We were very close. These were in her closet. (She had switched to flocked hangers). I haven't seen any repurposed padded hangers and thought someone would have a great, new idea. We donated tons of her clothes, shoes, purses, etc. I have all of her watches and am going to make a bracelet out of the watch faces. "Time with Becky". I am very creative. My favorite thing to do is "repurpose". I thought I might possibly could add some kind of zippered pouch to the hanger. Things you want to hide but not necessarily lock in a safe could be put in the pouch, hanger a shirt, sweater, coat on the hanger and put in your closet. Instant hiding place. I saw this idea somewhere and can't remember where. This way I could give them to family members. Sorry for the on and on. I am very sentimental and really don't want to give them away.Helpful Reply

Chelseaboots on Dec 09, 2014Very understandable Linda. My thoughts and prayers for you and your family. You could cut fabric to make a pocket that could be hand stitched on. Items inside would be hidden when you put clothing on the hangar. I still use a few of those hangars for my more expensive clothing.Helpful Reply

Jeanne Creel on Dec 09, 2014What are flocked hangers? So sorry about your loss, Linda, I can understand why you want to get rid of them. I am a senior citizen and these were very much a part of my life when we made them to hang up our trousseau. I can remember doing it with my mom for my own trousseau.Helpful Reply

ConnieJoe on Dec 11, 2014Sorry for your loss Linda. I'm in the older generation. I loved those hangars, but now I have all the same hangers for my blouses and wood for suits and jackets, I fold my sweaters. Sorry I cannot think of a repurpose for them.Helpful Reply

Barefootyardlady on Dec 11, 2014I would think about dressing them up to give to new "almost" brides. There is a very popular pre-wedding photo that has the dress hanging up ...in a tree, on a door, etc. I wish we had had a beautiful hanger for the dress. Instead, the picture was made with the plastic hanger from the shop.... I would think that bridal dress shops may even wish to have them to sell... for the same purpose....Helpful Reply
