Master bathroom renovation: Dark and dramatic

It's taken us 9 months, but we are finally done with our bathroom renovation--and we did it all ourselves, using mostly salvaged/vintage materials. You can read the full story (and see more pics) on our blog.

You had me at salvaged. I'm really impressed. I especially like those photos you took. Very unique and creative.

The mix of tile is great, although making all those placement decisions would have driven me crazy.

@Steve: Thanks--photographing that space is definitely a challenge! Small and no natural light makes it hard to capture how it really is.

@ Douglas: Making those tile placements nearly did drive us crazy! (If you want the full scoop on that, we wrote about it here: http://www.thissortaoldlife.com/2012/04/24/...)

I know I've seen your bath tub tile before. Loved it then, love it now. I'm thinking it was through Curbly. I love the whole make over. Awesome!

I think what Steve meant was he liked the photos you took and had printed on aluminum. I agree. They're very impressive.

    And the "shelves" are brilliant!

Looks great, though I wouldn't have that imagination. I agree with Douglas, I would have stressed out long before it was done.

Deborah Goshen The brown wall color is Behr's Clove Brown. It's a very cool brown that's almost an olive color. Really rich and deep.

Rose S and Douglas Hunt You can see more than you'd ever want to know about the crazy-making that was the tile design here: http://www.thissortaoldlife.com/2012/04/24/...

If any of you are so inclined, we'd love your vote in Apartment Therapy's Room for Color Contest. It's a color contest, but we really want people to see what can be done with mostly salvage materials. More votes = more people seeing what's possible. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/rita-canes-n...

Thanks, I can't imagine undertaking a project like that. But I have been known in my day to try and do 'the impossible'. Keep on having fun. :-)

I should have been more clear. I liked the prints on the wall, but you took nice photos of the space, too.
