Unusual bloom in winter

I was given this plant years ago before my mother died. I didn't even know it bloomed for a long time. Then, Saturday I was in the yard to prepare the potted plants for cold weather and realized this pretty thing was in full bloom. The "leaves" have burrs up and down the sides and, even though it looks sort of like a succulent, they aren't thick. Can anyone tell me what it is?

Looks like some sort of Bromeliad but don't take my word for it.

I have a bromeliad that blooms in February...I live in Arkansas and it is in my greenhouse! Can't be more specific than bromeliad though!

That is Billbergia nutans, a bromeliad that goes by the common name of Queen's Tears. If happy in your yard, it will spread readily.
