Makeover of a Desk and Mahogany Chair

I recently purchased this desk at an estate sale. It's super heavy, solid, made well, and needed a makeover. I knew with a little paint and elbow grease it could be a real beauty again.
Apologies for the bad "before" shot, but hopefully you can see it's potential--and the need for a makeover!
The desk and chair both received a good cleaning with TSP Substitute, which also helps the paint adhere. I painted the desk body with a custom mix of Maison Blanche Confederate Grey and Wrought Iron chalk paint, and lightly distressed the whole thing.
I wanted to keep the desk top and chair in their natural state, and just used Howard's Restor-A-Finish in Mahogany to freshen them up. Once dry, I applied Maison Blanche's Dark Antiquing Wax to everything to enhance the details.
The chair is solid mahogany, and the most comfortable thing you will ever sit in. The arm did need a little gluing, but hey, it's an antique. It will now be around for many years to come.
Feel free to check out my website for the full tutorial--makeover's don't always go exactly as planned! I am, however, happy with how it all turned out.

Cynthia - Clockworkinteriors on Dec 21, 2014Hello Marion. Thanks for looking! Unfortunately the body of the desk was not mahogany, nor did it have pretty wood grain--paint gave it new life. :D
