Winterizing basil . . .

The saddest day of fall is the final cutting of the basil plants. But never fear, making and freezing pesto will keep my basil cravings satisfied. I've got my tips and tricks over at somewhatquirky.

Now that's a lot of basil! I'm jealous.

I usually freeze mine with water in ice cube trays and then put the frozen cubes in a plastic freezer bag. When I need basil I just plop as few cubes into the pan.

I tragically lost a lot of basil this year. We went away for a long weekend, and it got colder back at home than expected, so I lost the tomatoes and basil.
