How to remove sealant

Mary S McCubbin on Dec 22, 2014You can use a flat razor blade to scrape the sealant off the surface IF it is granite. Hopefully he used pure silicone and you won't end up with a stain.Helpful Reply

Bernadette Tetle on Dec 22, 2014Try warming the sealant first with a blow dryer to soften it up then use a scraper to remove it . This may take some time as you will have to do small sections at a time. Good luck☺Helpful Reply

Mary S McCubbin on Dec 23, 2014Just an FYI if the sealant isn't pure silicone and has any oil in it the heat will cause worse staining than may already exist!Helpful Reply

Marie Cheek on Dec 23, 2014Thanks Mary. I'm not sure if it is pure or not. I am planning on working on the project after Christmas and I will try a very small area with the dryer first. As far as I can see there is not staining. I was looking more closely at it the other day and the whole line of it is split and only sticking on the back splash and the granite, but not in between.Helpful Reply
