Beth Kirkham-Wille on Dec 23, 2014are you going to take out the door, or want to use it as a back? you'll need to consider ease of securing the door, attaching shelving in a secure manor. is it a solid door or hollow? or do you want open shelving between two areas, useful or decorative, both?Helpful Reply

Darla on Dec 23, 2014There is a plan on the Ana White site for that. I am making one, but you *can* use the door with it. If you don't want to use the door at all, all you have to do is make a box that will fit the space, and put shelves in it.Helpful Reply

ElnyrPolchow on Dec 23, 2014You have the perfect opportunity to plan a JIB DOOR. Castles had them centuries ago. One side has a bookshelf attached to one side/or both sides of the door. For weight considerations, both sides could just look like a full size spice rack so the door isn't stressed with the weight. On one side, photo or pictures could just lean on the narrow shelves and the side toward the kitchen, cookbooks, spices, artificial ivy from a small pot could cascade down for personality. Anything is possible...a shoe rack on kitchen side for decorative bottles of oils, etc. Fun fun. Camifloge (spelling?) paint the door knob same color of the door or a fabric draping....good luck. Sounds fun to me. YOU CAN DO IT!Helpful Reply
