Help with design

The mounted tv and fireplace wall are outset from the rest of the wall. Bottom right has cords that drive me nuts. Wondering if anyone has any design ideas to install or add so cords are hidden and space is used well. Benches on both sides maybe with cushion on top? If it has a way to store the cords?
Looking for product to maximize space and hide cords.

    We put ours in a piece of PVC tubing, spray painted it; did the same on the other side to create an even effect...looks really smart!

    you have the room to build some cabinets on each side. It would look classy and give you more storage underneath and display on top. You might even measure and see if you can buy premade cabinets and add trim to add a design element

    I agree with Ginger Robinson. Adding cabinet-style storage on each side would be a great use of the space. I wouldn't recommend bench seating. Why? Because the seating area is in front of and near the fireplace. Save those side spaces for storage. At first glance, the existing shelves are way too high up for proper display. If you want to "expand" the visual area of the two side spaces, you could add cabinetry of some sort at the bottom (painted to match the walls), then mirror the back walls, add glass shelves in front of the mirrored walls to display special things. You might even add some soft LED lighting as well.

    Yes, either built-ins that would hold the cords inside or matching table, cupboards that would hold/display art and hide cords.

    if you just hang a shelf on either side of the fireplace right above the outlets,all those cords will disappear.I would make them into two seating areas by putting a pillow on top of shelf,with a matching pillow for the back too.You could then,if needed apply a shade or type of curtain to cover the empty space,allowing some air to circulate and prevent heat build-up.Burlap would look nice.Your living room is very nice.

    I like the bench idea too..can never have enough storage OR seating..plus it would look great..and changing seat cushion colors would be fun!

    I could see built in storage, cords would run thru hole into storage either cupboard style doors or even lift top. Seems like that is just wasted space. Maybe something floor to ceiling with storage below shelves above. I'm not a fan of the shelves that are there. Swan Road Designs above has said it better than I have.

    Find inexpensive kitchen cabinets that are bench height, top with boards or plywood, finish with stain or paint and buy or make a cushion for the top. Add a colorful throw pillow.

    Some great ideas out there. You could also do built-in bookshelves from top to bottom, or put some sort of cabinet feature at the bottom with the top being shelves. It needs to be the same on both sides, with a built-in look, rather than individual "pieces". #mytwocentsworth!

    Floor to ceiling shelves and paint the back walls another color for interest and depth.

    Some cupboards might be a good idea, too. That way they would hide the cords and you would have some storage space for movies or games. What you put there depends on what kind space needs you have. Still, having more storage space in your home is always nice.  http://www.etcs.net.au;
