Eliminating Carpet Odors

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Dec 30, 2014I would have your carpets professionally cleaned. Having the professionally done will make a huge difference (from experience I can tell you this). If the pet odors are from continual use and the pad and subfloor may be compromised and replacement necessary. When we bought our current home, the previous owners had pets and we had to seal all subfloors with primer and recarpet. it was disgusting but 8 gallons of primer later we had no smell or problems. good luck!.Helpful Reply

Sue Allen on Dec 30, 2014OdoBan...I found it at Home Depot $10/gal (concentrate, lasts quite a while). The only thing that I have found that works on completely eliminating urine odor. Dabbed on carpet full strength with a wet sponge, let sit and then used home carpet cleaner.Helpful Reply

Nikki on Dec 31, 2014Yes @Roberta is correct I have been there and NOTHING ever took the scent away without it eventually returning, Besides the white vinegar, baking soda and dawn. I didn't use peroxide on mine but I covered the area with baking soda and let it sit then I made a bucket of hot water vinegar and a few drops of dawn and soaked it and scrubbed and let it sit a bit and then sucked up all the solution with my steam cleaner and after it was all dry I'm not sure if it matters or even helped but I just sprinkled baking soda on the area and left it there like a carpet powder and I didn't vacuum it up until the next time I needed to vacuum. Good Luck :)Helpful Reply
