Redo Dry Sink

by Brittney
Hello everyone, I have a beautiful and huge dry sink my mother in law game me. I want to redo it but i want to go in the right direction so i don't mess it up. I'm very new to this but I've always had an interest in making older things new but old if you get what I mean. Its very shiny and I'm not a shiny fan. It has so many curves and and its big. I also thought about painting it but I'm not sure if that's a good idea. I'm just looking for advise from any of y'all that have done things like this before. Sorry for my horrible picture and my dry sink is kinda in a storage area right now. Thanks so much!

@Brittney that's what came to mind was chalk (or milk) paint since they are not shiny. Maybe check Pinterest for upcycle ideas.
  • How about General paints milk paint in a Linen tone. with a contrasting color to match your decor on the coves in the doors. finish it off with a good sealer on the copper insert in the bottom of the dry sink and decorative knobs to match. Hobby Lobby has a great selection of knobs in all different colors. they are china and look beautiful.

Talk with someone at a place that provides contractors supplies about how to prep wood before doing anything to it. It is beautiful.

sand it down, wipe it down with a light colored paint, for the antique look. seal it. always seal wood. change the knobs out for something flatter. maybe in a pewter. i might even use a jig saw to square off some of the curves, if i did that i would paint the whole thing out in a green to match my walls. you are very lucky.

This would make a great place to store bow dryers, irons, make up or use for a tv stand. I would paint it a flat or glossy black, change out the knobs, Anthropolgie has some fantastic knobs. It's not an antique so painting it to suit your needs would be great.
