Want to create "weathered" wood from new/raw wood?

We are currently in the process of overhauling our master bedroom. We wanted the look of a barnwood or pallet bed but didn't want to deal with finding pallets that were chemical free so, we purchased raw wood and did our own experimenting with oxidizing and staining.

Another technique I have used is with apple cider vinegar using #0 steel wool and an inexpensive coarse brush.
