Ikea Dining Table Hack

The 2 Seasons

We found a great Ikea dining table in the discount section of the store and ended up paying only $50.00 for it. Since we eat all of our meals in the dining room, it started showing some wear after a few years when the finish started to break down. That propelled me to do a little hack by painting and staining it to give it a fresh and updated farmhouse look.
When we bought the table and chairs (which weren't part of the original $50.00 purchase), they were all a light-toned wood finish. I wanted more of a farm house look and decided to paint the chairs and just the base of the table.
After failing at staining the top, the final finish is simply some poly applied to the bare wood.
The painted chairs are white and bright, and the existing fabric seats look new and fresh again even though I didn't do a thing to them.
This is what the table looked like originally. It was bland and worn. The painted version is so much fresher and a welcome addition to our dining room. This is elegant yet homey. Can't wait to try it.

Great Job! It looks like a little of the stain did take! Just enough to give it some contrast.
