Industrial Inspired Living Room

Easy
In the process of creating an industrial styled Living room. I want to build a pallet coach (must talk husband into this) and create lots of cubbies/Shelving for above and around TV. Our living room is small must think creatively and functional. I have a long desk that we made (I cant find the photo!) a few years back. It functions well as below the desktop I revamped my daughters changing table into a functional peice that holds DVR & various items. I am on the hunt for something more industrial to revamp at the moment. Wish me luck as I thrifty try to do this for my small space!
Some photos I collected around the internet to inspire me for shelving. Although they are not very industrial. Have you seen all the industrial ideas online? WOW! IMpressive...making a new board soon! http://www.pinterest.com/DebsHitchcock/organizing-l-room-industrial/
Clip Board ART for Gallery wall I change out per seasons. This is what I made (right) as I mimiced the left picture.
You can see my desk behind my kids playing candy cane pick up. My geek husband at his computer, yes honey...the wires has GOT TO GO! And I so need some shelving something industrial built or rebuilt! I have an idea see what you think and offer me feedback please? See last two photos.
Large Sized Engineer Prints for Living Room
Engineer Prints I had made for my Living Room Wall to begin my gallery wall. This is a start. I have added some Letter's "H" to the right and some clip board that I frequently change the art out per season. I have left one letter H unpainted as I am trying to decide what looks industrial that I would like to have on it. It's still missing a few things, not sure what yet!
A combination of items needed for my space in the living room. I collected these Industrial/Rustic photos online (I do not claim any ownership) as I am creating the thought process of what I can do for my TV/ Storage/ Desk area.
A careful thought out plan for my space in general but I do know the style I want! Check out these fab makes Ive found around the net.. A combination of items needed for my space in the living room. As I am creating the thought process of what I can do for my TV, Storage, Desk area.
First I must talk my husband into allowing and helping me build a pallet coach. I'm sure he's gonna give in! (ha). I don't think he knows yet what I have in mind but he likes the idea of "Industrial". I plan on taking our old coach cushions and reusing them but first recovering them. Problem is, I don't sew! Its gonna have to be an no sew coverings.
If I have any wall space left ha, I think these are super cool! The black picture is not chalk as I have plans for chalk in my open door kitchen next door to my Living Room. The Industrial Light DIY tutorial that you see I would like to do these on the wall on each end of my coach taking up less table top space. These Items all can be found with their links from my page here: http://www.pinterest.com/DebsHitchcock/organizing-l-room-industrial/
So My TV/desk/Storage area. As seen above, the photo of my kids playing on coffee table, behind them is my TV/Desk/Storage unit. The current storage unit underneath TV was actually my daughters changing table. Ya know the kind that grows with your child changing table turned into storage unit. Well, I just skipped using it in her room, I painted it to match the wooden desk top (two planks of wood) to make it look like the belonged together. Problem is now I need more storage space, so Im loving this look. I am looking for something larger. Perhaps a buffett table or dresser to do the very same as the photo here. On each end of the desk top, I am thinking two metal garage shelving units possibly painted rustic and as an added feature some types of brackets for ornate look. I will place wood planks (painted or stained) to join the two shelves above the TV, so it looks like an all in one unit. What do you guys think? IM posting the photos of garage metal shelves below.
A shelving unit with two of these types of shelves on either side of my TV. (Not my photo obviously the wood does not come with the shelving unit). This is in the theme I'm going for Industrial theme. The top shelves (possibly just one depending the height I have left over clearing top of TV) will have one long plank of wood joining them together and to create more shelving space. What do you guys think can you picture it all in your head?
Finally I am making some progress to this room. Remember the photo from above (Second photo) this is the same area. It still is a work in progress. My two new industrial shelves and my new thrift store desk below. Don't mind the mess the shelves just got built and desk in place. Working on organizing it all, hiding the cords, organizing things on shelves and desk. Got to find a few Industrial Art pieces. What do you think?

@Deborah For the shelving you could do floating shelves, belt shelves pic 2-- i thought could replace belts with galvanized hanger iron 13.50 100' roll do lots of shelves (cuts w/ tin snips pic 3,) or the pipe shelves (just checked but still have to check on strength /weight limits) but pvc for 3/4 " x 10' is $2.37 , elbows and fittings .98 to 2.00 dep. on what need, the flanges that attach to wall seem to be most expensive ...BUT think could diy those get / borrow 3 different hole saw bits (or carefully do w/ jig saw) use the largest 1 cut out of plywood , then cut next size. glue the smaller one to center of the larger 1 and use finish nails around edges like 2-4 to hold together, after dry take smallest bit (just slightly larger than pipe) and drill/cut out hole in center of top one,, paint pipe out with sophisticated finishes iron or steel paint patina if you want (amazon sells those paints not cheap but not bad either and they go a LONG way so plenty to do wall of shelves and other things) for the actual shelves, could use pallet wood, old fence boards or cut from plywood. You didn't say on the shelves if you wanted to display or have some hidden storage cubbies, but you could do a combo or could use some of these in the dresser system you want to repurpose. Here was a post on hometalk redoing dollar store plastic bins as storage http://www.hometalk.com/diy/organize/storage-ideas/dollar-store-diy-vintage-locker-bins-6496684?utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=featured again use the SF or modern master paints (not actually paint but real metal finely ground in a bonder that swear to you-- look at my copper head planter would not know was painted- also used 1 of the metals on the fountains i did--these ppaints patina and react to elements), also plenty of instructions on how to make your own wire baskets (I'm making some for laundry room-- 25 ' roll of it was like 10.00), boxes could be built from plywood and #s stenciled on, cardboard boxes painted to look like metal, plastic pails painted out or metal pails from dollar store-- basically any kind of box from there you could paint or cover in burlap if your hubby has to have computer there you could do whole wall of shelves or these shelves (pic 4)(center him and make 2 ) 1 each side of him and at desk height run that shelf from 1 shelf to the other 1. then fill w/ storage boxes and buckets. rolling crates from 2 x4's (could use slats for lighter crates to sit on shelves) pic 1. hanging chain or rope shelves pics 5 ,6 & 7 other shelf ideas l rest of pics,, even this rould 1 could be done fairly cheaply and give high end look (and in almost any shape you wanted) let me think on how to actually diy it -- you could possibly even take the metal garage shelves use the frame spray paint bronze or iron / like cast iron, and replace the actual metal shelves (use them some where else) with pallet or plywood wood shelves try to make them look like last pic

Oh sorry I didn't specify if I wanted cubies or just shelves. I want a mixture. I need to be able to hide a few things that are unsightly that wont fit into my drawers below once I have them. Fabulous ideas! My two favs are the Ana White metal storage hutch. The perfect thing I was looking for. for my son's room I was afraid it's to much weight on my living room table top/desk but I could afix it to the wall. I love the Lowes shelving idea and spruce up like the expensive one in the photo! I have high ceilings so I could possibly pull that off. I love love the idea of the ladder I too have seen an how to, but this is where high traffic is and my tv so Im not sure if I have room for it. Thanks for the tips love them all! I am thinking of somehow adding a top shelf joining the two together.
