Paint color ideas

In my living room I have dark green carpet, and have red leather furniture with light pine accent side tables. I want something warm on my walls, but need ideas. I also have a antiqued dusty red fireplace.

I would look at the warm neutrals (warm browns, but not dark shades (or at least dark on only 1 focal wall) or a champagne gold color, could even do say a brick red or valspars olive branch gold. Hard to say without actual pictures of the carpet and couch.. I would suggest you go to paint store and get paint chips in lots of colors thinking about, hold them against both the carpet and couch to see how you like them. Should be able to toss lots at first, then when you get down to last few you love and are torn between, go back have them make sample jars up of each, paint an area close to baseboard up to visually above couch (about 6" wide stripe) move over a inch and apply next color and repeat until all colors up so you can see how each color actually looks in your room as light changes. Shouldn't take long until Shouldn't take long before you find which 1 calls to you. This is how Hubby and I finally narrowed ours down to the color we have now. Sorry couldn't help more like said hard to visualize , w/o a picture to show the actual red and dk green shades you have existing. Good luck and have fun. And would love to see a picture when you are done.

A medium grey wall paint would make the fireplace a focal point of the living room.. Base boards painted white. Use accent colors of red, white, grey and green.

Some large oriental type rugs in creamy, beige colors with red and green in the pattern. Throw pillows in jewel tones from the rugs. Cafe au lait on walls. You didn't mention color of baseboards, trim in room? Creamy ivory if painted, otherwise whatever wood finish they are.

I would have to agree with B. Simpson, it would be good to tie the room colors together with a patterned rug, pillows and/or art work with a neutral on the walls.

Have you considered different flooring? Possibly see if there is hardwood under the carpet or replacing the green carpet with a taupe colored carpet?
