Common white globe light fixture make-over

I have a large common, white frosted, globe light fixture over my kitchen island and I find it so boring. I need some color on it. I have been trying to find a good way to make it more comtemporary looking. Can't find a colored replacement glass but only more white ones. I don't want to paint as the brush marks will show though when the light is on. Anyone have any good ideas? thanks

Put paint in a pail. Wrap a cord around the neck of the globe; lower into pail. Bring it up occasionally until coverage is to your liking. Tie the cord to something to hang over your laundry sink, or outside in good weather, to dry. You can keeping dipping if you want a darker colour; lower into paint at different heights for variegated colour. If you only want to paint the outside, tape off the opening.

Colored or black sharpie...depends on where your putting it and the colors around it. You can make it simple with a few stems of flowers...or make it more intricate with an abstract design. When it's lit, the design wil create shadows. Have fun with it...hope it helps😊

I covered my ancient almond refrigerator with torn and wrinkled tissue paper in a light tan using Mod-Podge glue. After it dried thoroughly I used brown acrylic paint on a wet sponge and lightly brushed the front. If you get too much, just wipe it off and repeat. It looked like 'old leather'. You could do the same thing with your globe. The light could pass through but you could add color without loosing the brightness you need. I threw away the glass globes over my kitchen bar. Then I purchased wire fruit baskets at Target and by cutting a hole in the bottom could hang them as the light shade. From time to time, I change the look with fabric braid around top and bottom. At the present time, I have bark chips from the mulch outside hot glued around the top and bottom for a rustic look.
