I have light color textured tile & cannot get it clean

Shari on Jan 12, 2015You need a steam mop! A year ago, I jumped on the steam mop wagon and oh my gosh, has it ever changed my life. Seriously! Mopping used to be my most dreaded chore. This steam mop makes it so quick and easy, and it does an amazing job with just water. (Distilled water is recommended). No more wringing out traditional mops or buckets of nasty water for me ever again! I use it on several kinds of tile (including textured), vinyl and sometimes very carefully on my laminate, and it leaves them squeaky clean.without having to use any cleaners or chemicals. We live on a horse farm so, believe me, my floors get really dirty, plus we have indoor pets. The first time I used it, I was absolutely shocked (and disgusted) how much dirt the steam mop got off my floors! This is the AWESOME mop I bought. (Actually I bought 2; 1 for Daughter (she has textured tile) and 1 for me.) http://www.amazon.com/BISSELL-Powerfresh-Steam-White-1940/dp/B0091YYUAM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1393908490&sr=8-2&keywords=bissell+powerfreshHelpful Reply

S.Schneider on Jan 13, 2015My sister got a great tip from someone who did floors. He told her to let your cleaning solution sit on the floor for a bit. The cleaner will loosen the deep down dirt and lift it if left on a few minutes - like soaking a pan. We are always in a hurry to get things done.Helpful Reply

EdiLeck on Jan 13, 2015Part of the problem might be the cleaner you are using. A lot of the environmentally friendly cleaners tend to leave a grey film on everything! The fix isn't quick, but it is relatively easy. Get a good cleaner (good ol' Dawn dish soap works well) that is compatible with the type of floor you are cleaning. Mix according to packaging directions, apply to a small area, allow to sit and penetrate (but not dry) and use some good old elbow grease and a scrub brush to bring up the embedded dirt and film. When you get the dirt and film up, mop with a new clean sponge mop with clean water. Change the water as necessary. Maintaining the floors is a little easier! Just rinse with clean water and a clean sponge mop after every time you mop with a cleaner. To make it even easier, never rinse with the same mop you have used with the cleaning solution! The heat from the steam mop may eventually cause your floor adhesive to fail. I am a school janitor and that's how we remove tiles to replace them...heat and a scraper!Helpful Reply

Pat G on Jan 15, 2015My friend had a textured light yellow floor and animals. You can guess. Helping her get ready to move. I used a stiff broom with soap and water, and it did wonders! I would suggest letting it soak a little and then scrub with the broom and rinse. Cheap, and a lot easier than getting down on the floor.Helpful Reply
