Golden mophead bushes?

Susan 11590 on Jan 14, 2015They are either Gold mophead or not.If the nursery didn't have golden potheads and sold you something else, then nothing will turn them gold. if the landscaper thinks they need more sun and you think they get at least 6 hours then you probably don't have gold potheads. Sorry.Helpful Reply

HappyGrandmaGA on Jan 14, 2015The nursery assured me they were related to the golden mopheads & the tags even said they had the gold look to them....I will have to find the tags. They also look identical in shape and draping as the others do. Several people have them in my neighborhood and they look like that but they are just green! I will have to attach a pic soon. Thanks!Helpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Jan 15, 2015Susan is correct. The true "Gold Mops" is Charmaecyparis pisifera filifera ‘Mops.’ The amount of light controls how "golden" this plant becomes. I'm afraid is not something you can change with a soil amendment.Helpful Reply
