Gossip Bench Makeover

A sad little gossip bench (or telephone table) got a sassy makeover with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and a pretty upholstered seat!
A friend gifted me with an old gossip bench - the top was scratched, the seat was cracked and ripped and the legs were pretty beat up. I decided to take the plunge and start my first furniture makeover EVER!
I started by removing the seat and reupholstered it with a pretty gray and white fabric. Then, I started the first coat of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Emperor's Silk ... such a gorgeous deep red color!
Once the coats of paint were dry, I added the wax to seal and protect the gossip bench. I loved seeing the color get a little more bold and deepen slightly!
I was absolutely THRILLED with the way she looked when she was done!
Though no one is sitting here to gossip, I can't wait to use this bold piece in our living room or bedroom!

Susan Barrett on Jan 18, 2015It looks great. This piece of furniture was used to put the telephone and a place to sit while talking on the phone.
