Where can I find pretty floral 24x36 posters?

Hi all - I'm trying to find a good (reasonable) source for large - furniture size - posters with florals that are individualized enough to cut out and decoupage spanning 2 or 3 drawers of a dresser front or across a table top. I've looked in stores like Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's, Walmart etc but without success. Hobby Lobby had some really nice Eiffel Tower ones but I'm more looking for a magnolia (example) - Thanks in advance!

Try www.postercheckout.com or www.poster.com. I have shopped on these sites for several years. Good luck!

Also, I am checking into using Walmart to enlarge previous flowering pictures (to poster size) I took in NM before we moved to NC....thought it would be nice memories to look at each day...:)

@Jaci Royal Thanks! I'd be really interested in the Walmart aspect - I wonder how you do it - can you take an image you find online (royalty free and legit) and somehow make it into a huge flower? Would be great to know!

If you're willing to shop on-line, I'd recommend Etsy.com all the way. Many vendors will be more than happy to customize their pieces to the size you want, as well.

If you have a picture you like just take it to a copy place & have it enlarged.

@Kari Mills I like thinner paper - was just wondering if I have a sheet of scrapbook paper with an image I need - if I can take the scrapbook paper in somewhere and have it enlarged .. thanks!

You could go to the Graphics Fairy, she has TONS of stuff for free. Download something you like, then take it to an office supply store and have them blow it up. Doesn't cost much at all.

You can get blueprint or engineering copies of images done for just a few bucks. The resolution isn't as good but you can get really large sizes and for a decor project might be just the ticket. A couple examples (the second link is from Staples with lots of examples) http://www.bluecricketdesign.net/2011/09/huge-print-preview.html http://www.pinterest.com/explore/staples-engineer-prints/

@Sara Printing stores like Kinkos do these prints. That Staples pinterest board seems to imply they do it, but I can't say for sure. You know, copy shops can do so much these days, so you can definitely take a printed version of your image in, but you can probably also give them one right from your computer, which might have better resolution. I don't know the details though, so best to ask them.

Also, check out The Graphics Fairy website-- http://thegraphicsfairy.com/ --for free downloadable images that are free domain, so there's no issue with copyright infringement. There are actually a number of sites that have free images with lots of florals, Check out my pinterest board for more sites: http://www.pinterest.com/centrd/printables-labels-fonts/

Do you have a color printer at home to use?
    • Sara Sara on Jan 18, 2015
@Linda Yes, I have an inkjet - but can't get the size of image I want .. is there a trick?

hmmm.. yeah, there is so much available on Etsy that it can be hard to refine your search to narrow down what you are looking for. I would recommend doing a search that is relatively broad. If you find a shop (or shops, fingers crossed) that caters to a "look" you like, message the owner directly and ask them specifically for what you are interested in. The Etsy community, as a whole, is a great one, very helpful. Many owners are happy and eager to customize their work when it comes to sizing or might point you in the right direction by means of another seller they know of that is more up your alley. Good luck!

    Thanks - heading there now!

@Sara You may want to try having it turned into a vinyl???? No decoupage needed just rub it on. May cost more but easier & no mess. Etsy has lot of shops that do them. I would like to see the finished results.
  • Sara Sara on Jan 20, 2015
@Kari Mills Wow - haven't heard of this process - thanks!

For the large florals, look for Georgia O'Keefe type posters at allposters. They are really beautiful!
  • Maryellen Maryellen on Jan 21, 2015
Ooops! Didn't mean to be finished yet! You can also look for wrapping paper. It goes on well with Mod Podge, then a final coat of one of the plastic sprays or some water based poly.
  • Sara Sara on Jan 22, 2015
@Maryellen Thank YOU! I will look for hers .. there are soooooo many pages there to go through ;o) I'm trying to do a table with General Finishes Stain - and having nervous nellie's about applying the stain - and then wondering if decoupage will be able to go on that ;o)
  • Maryellen Maryellen on Jan 23, 2015
It should go on fine. Just be sure it's completely dry before hand. I did a dresser in my grandchildren's room and cut Peter Rabbit characters out of old books and decoupaged them onto the front that had been stained and the top that was painted with high gloss paint and didn't have trouble with either surface. It's been almost 10 years and it's still going strong. The only problem I have is that the two 9 year old boys don't like it anymore but I still have little ones who LOVE it ;)
  • Maryellen Maryellen on Jan 23, 2015
Another thing - if you sand at all - and you might want to if there are any bubbles or bumps where you'll be applying your pictures - be sure to either damp wipe it really well or use a tack cloth because any dust will kind of blob up in the Mod Podge and you could end up with really noticeable flaws since the final finish is so glossy. Good luck!
  • Sara Sara on Jan 23, 2015
@Maryellen - thanks! I have a rickety table that was given to me and I want to try all the things above on this one table - LOL .. today's project is to find a 'gizmo' to use for molding an applique type decoration .. ;o)
