Refurbishing a fridge

Creative Interiors By Connie on Jan 20, 2015call a local auto body shop and ask them how much it would cost for them to paint it. If it's too costly ask them what kind of primer and paint should you use. There are also professional appliance painters that are great. They come to your house and do it. I have used one in my area several times for my clients and was so pleased with the outcome. It looked so professional. Just like they just bought it. Google appliance painters in your area and call them. It is worth the price, believe me. Those handles are used a lot and you don't want to have keep redoing them. Let me know the outcome. Good Luck.Helpful Reply

117135 on Jan 20, 2015Cheryl, Can the handles be removed? If they can be removed you could spray paint them. I would make sure to clean very well and use Zinnser cover stian bond primer( it is the gold label one) or Rustoleum makes a plastic primer. Once you prime, you can spray paint with color of your choice.Helpful Reply

CK on Jan 20, 2015If you can remove the handles, you can spray paint them with Krylon 'made for plastic' spray paint. (I see DeDe said the same thing.) Honestly unless the photo is more forgiving than reality, I don't think the handles look that bad. ;-)Helpful Reply

Darla DeMorrow on Jan 20, 2015It really does look great, and I have a little thing for blue appliances. But for other HomeTalkers, you might want to think twice about refurbishing a 20-year old fridge. They are huge energy wasters. In fact, my local electric company will pay you $50 or more if they are allowed to pick it up and dispose of it. Even one that seems to stay cold is working way harder than modern models. Just food for thought. Happy painting!Helpful Reply
