About Me:

I have 14 years experience in the permit aquisition business, taking care of the details and the drawings for homeowners and construction professionals, allowing them to do what they do best and not spend needless time filling out forms and waiting in permit offices. I am a member of the Atlanta Chapter of NARI, chairman of NARI WINN and a member of Atlanta Chapter of NAWIC. Over the years I have made many connections and if I don't have the answer, I can get it for you quickly! I love pulling permits and saving my client's precious time! Visit my website www.atlantapermits.com.

Favorite area of home improvement:

I am a do-it-yourself kind of person, but know clearly when I need to call a tradesman to do the "heavy lifting".

Furniture: Looking for a local supplier of rustic style furniture

I am looking for coffee tables and end tables in the rustic style--the kind that you would expect to find in a lodge or a log cabin. I need them with a very short delivery time--preferably in stock. So, does anyone have a supplier in the Atlanta area? Something like the attached photo.

I went out and bought liriope, planted it carefully and the chicks got out and ...»

"moved" the poor little plants several times. So I soaked a bag of pinto beans and planted them everywhere there is a bald patch. Everywhere--all over the yard. My dog Cowboy watched me plant them and came behind me, delicately pawing them up and munching raw beans. But he didn't get them all! The chicks have demonstrated that they don't care for beans and they are leaving these little plants alone. At least I will have ground cover and add nitrogen to this soil. We will see what the pinto bean plants look like.

Deck and Outdoor Living Tuna Can Lantern

Inexpensive and easy way to make DIY outdoor lighting by re-purposing a tuna can. A dowel, paint or old broom stick, wood screw, copper fitting, and a thrift store glass hurricane is all that is needed. Simply drill a hole in the can and dowel to attach the dowel/paintstick and spray paint it. Once the paint is dry add the glass hurricane. Cost- $5.00

Baby Changing table made into a Potter's bench

with a little creativity, a nail gun, old fencing and paint I was able to create my potting bench using what I had on hand. You can read about the details at: http://shelstringblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/b...

Gardening: Congrats to Walter Reeves, on 18yrs of doing the Lawn and Garden Show

Just read that Walter has been doing the Georgia Gardener Show for 18 yrs as of January 15. That's a long time and I'm sure he has helped hundreds if not thousands. I know I appreciate ...»
the information I've gotten from his website and even directly from right here on hometalk. I'm always fascinated and a little envious when I come across someone doing something that they love (and making a living at it) and it is clear that Walter loves what he does. It is a beautiful thing! Thanks Walter and congrats!

  • Dog gate built using shutters 4

My first share -- I wanted something a little nicer and more permanent than a baby gate to try and keep our three dogs

out of the living room. (One of the dogs is old and has ... problems of the floor-ruining sort.) I'd bought these old shutters at a yard sale a few months back and by attaching two and a half of them together and securing them at the top and bottom with trim, they made a perfect gate. Took less than an hour start to finish.
