LibrarianTellsAll on Jan 26, 2015I agree with @Bev that this is a traditional look. It's safe. The rug has a tight, busy pattern. And since it's the only significant source of color in the room, the eye goes straight to the floor. And then the eye stays there. I would use a rug with a larger pattern and more color. I'd carry the color throughout the room in the curtains and art. And I'd replace the heavy, traditional chandelier and mirror with something lighter and more current. Or at least take them down and give them a few coats of white spray paint.

Cool Grammaw on Nov 13, 2015Your room is very attractive. I think you could repeat the color in the carpet (it looks red on my monitor) on the walls, perhaps just half way up or down, for an eye-catching look. You might consider a wallpaper with a coordinating pattern featuring or including the red (if that is indeed red). I agree that lowering the chandelier would look nice too. If I have mis-labeled the red color, forgive me, I just got this computer and my colors are a little out of sync.
