The Only Thing You Need to Keep Your House Warm: Caulk
by

Have you started breaking out the blankets at night? Do you wear five layers of clothes inside your house? We're only partway through fall, so if you're already shivering, your house may have sprung a heat-leak. Don't burn through cash by cranking up your thermostat – all you need is a $4 tube of caulk to fix your problem! If you spend five minutes caulking your windows, you'll be wearing t-shirts around the house again in no time.
If you're not sure how to caulk a window, visit: https://brightnest.com/posts/caulk-the-only-thing-you-need-to-stay-warm-at-night/

Kimberlee on Nov 18, 2012Woodbridge Environmental!! You ROCK! Thank you! I just happen to be working on my the renovation of my kids' room when I took a break and read this topic. I had air coming in around an outlet and hadn't figured out out to how to stop it. I didn't know about "outlet gaskets." So when Woodbridge mentioned it I Googled it and realized that I had some of that exact material leftover from an electrical device shipping. So I made a template (crafting skills payoff in construction) and made a gasket by repurposing something I would have normally thrown out and it worked like a charm.
