My Kitchen Makeover

I decided to give my kitchen a makeover by changing the wall color, adding shelving and finally re-doing my kitchen table to create a warmer, more farmhouse look.
Here is the before of the kitchen. The wall color was rather boring and the whole effect was too "blah" for me! The table pretty much disappeared in the room. BTW, the table was a thrift store find and cost less than $20.
Here you can see how there was a lot of wasted space along the right hand side of my kitchen. It was calling out for shelving!
First, I decided to change the wall color to a blue/grey. Benjamin Moore Arctic Gray was perfect.
I picked up some shelves from Ikea to attach along the wall.
Here is the "after". The color on the walls made a huge difference - as did painting the bottom of my table in Driftwood by General Finishes and refinishing the top. This was done after I had painted the kitchen and added the shelving.
The shelves make such a difference. They give me more storage space and look great too.
I'm actually contemplating painting my bottom cabinets next. I never stop :)
I'm so happy with the table. It really pops now.
I also found a great old secretary and painted it in the same Driftwood milk paint as the table. It fits perfectly in the kitchen. A few changes made all the difference!

I love the transformation. Though I didn't think it looked too bad before. I do agree the table and shelf is fantastic.

Thank you for posting. It looked already good, now it looks great. The idea of topping the table with dark finish is really nice. Thank for the numbering advice for the shelves for the next time I paint. All the best! Thank you.
