Best way to put up decorative ceiling tile in kitchen?- tin tile
-
Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jan 29, 2015The ceiling lights can pose a bit of an issue when installing a Tin ceiling. You need to lay out the tiles so all of the lights fall within the center and not along the edges of the tiles for easier install. This may require some adjustments on tile count as well as how the finished ceiling will look once complete. In any case you will remove the trim kits on the recessed lighting fixtures and re-install them once the finished tin tiles are in place. Ideally if at all possible use a hole saw drill bit sized for the recessed lights and carefully and slowly drill out the light openings. Be careful when doing this as the drill can catch the ceiling panel and cause it to spin. As far as mounting the tiles this can vary. Depends upon several factors, What your installing the tiles to, how the tiles join to each other, do they over lap or but together. Lastly what they are made of. If they are a tin coated plastic or plastic painted to look like tin, a good quality adhesive caulk should do the trick. You may also need to use a staple gun if your not having any luck with the panels sticking. If the panels have a pattern in which small tiny screws can be placed and hidden into the pattern, Use them along with the contractors adhesive. Read the install instructions that come with the tiles. Each manufacture has their own desired method to install.Helpful Reply

JoAnna Cooper on Feb 01, 2015Hello Erdwina, this sounds like a very thin material, which sounds like at least two people are required for installation, one holding while other is doing the cuts. If this scares me, and I'll admit when I'm whooped, dear I say hire this done or change and put on a wall instead.Helpful Reply

Erdwina G on Feb 01, 2015Thank you so much for your input .. I think we'll change the material to thicker one or just leave as is - plain sheetrock. Thank you all for the answers!Helpful Reply
