Travertine stain

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jan 30, 2015If you spill water on the surface, does it bead up? If so there is nothing wrong with the current sealer. If it appears to be soaking in, you need to reseal it. Be sure to use a sealer that will work with the stone that you have. There are different types of sealers and although they work the same way, some are better at it with one type of stone than another. If your concerned about stains etc. from getting into the tiny holes and spaces normally found on this type of stone, you need to re-seal a few times. Letting the sealer dry between each coating. Nothing can prevent liquids and solids from falling into the gaps in the surface of the stone, only that the liquids will not soak into the surface preventing you from removing it.Helpful Reply

Linda on Feb 01, 2015I'm curios about travertine. I just had it installed and then found out how careful you need to be with it. The store owner did not tell me anything except you seal it. He used Tile Lab, a topical. I read it is better to use a penetrating sealer. I am now not enjoying my bathroom that I waited 36 years to get. Any comments about care will be appreciated.Helpful Reply
