I have a bamboo that's 6' tall

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Feb 01, 2015Wrap the root structure in towels or burlap. soak it, then put plastic over them to keep everything damp. Be careful with the bamboo before you put it into the ground. Do a search on Hometalk about Removal and other types of bamboo that are not only very invasive and difficult to control ,but can be poisonous as well. You might want to re-think this.Helpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Feb 01, 2015@Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com raises a very good point about bamboo. Do your homework before you plant. Some counties and states actual have bans in place regarding bamboo.Helpful Reply

Catherine Smith on Feb 01, 2015Woodbridge Environmental is absolutely correct. Having had the dubious pleasure of trying to get rid of bamboo, planted in the neighbor's yard, but invading our septic system, I wouldn't plant the stuff if it came with a gold plated guarantee. It was a nightmare to get rid of, when the new neighbor's bought the house they discovered it was invading the foundation. Ended up using a backhoe to get the main trunk and root out of the ground. It's highly invasive and almost impossible to contain.Helpful Reply

Karen McLendon on Feb 01, 2015You can't kill it....cut it off and wrap roots but if you plant it, plant in a deep container with no holes and then line the container with flashing to keep the roots in...Helpful Reply

WebbRowan on May 03, 2016I think it's a matter of protecting the roots of the plant until you can get it repotted or replanted at home. It shouldn't be too difficult as long as you're able to keep it secure in your car until then!Helpful Reply
