Sorry your orchid plant is having troubles, Here are general care instructions to read through http://www.jaxma.com/pcare.html and some specific leaf die-off info too http://www.repotme.com/orchid-care/Yellow-Orchid-Leaves.html. Hope this helps you find the solution!

Is your orchid planted in bark? Id take it out of it's container and put the plant in water for 30 mins and replant it in bark... only water about every 2 weeks...

My orchards get watered every two weeks, they are in a west window that has a sheer curtain on it. They have been thriving and blooming off and on for the last 2 years. They are doing wonderful. The only issue I am dealing with right now is I replanted them in orchard soil from Miracle Grow and now have gnats all over the place, they were apparently dormant in the soil. I have to find a way to get rid of them anyone have suggestions?

@Monica Anderson, I'm glad you asked this. I've got those pesky gnats in my orchids too and flying around my house right now. It drives me crazy!

To get rid of gnats, put some vinegar in a small lid or cup, and gnats will flock to it and drown. Or, you can get double sided sticky tape, place in on a stick, and the gnats will stick to it, too.Water sparingly, as gnats LOVE moisture!

@Cstrehle Thanks for the suggestion, this happened to me once before with Miracle Grow soil, I think I wound up putting all my plants in the shower and just watered the heck out of them with the shower with tepid water. It took care of the problem, but I don't want to do that with my orchids. And Jeanne Grunert is correct, just like with violets, they really do like to be ignored and like small pots. Good Luck with everyone's Orchids!

i was given one and they told me when i watered it to just put 3 ice cubes in every week.. sounded crazy at the time.. its lasted and lasted along time.. tap it out of IT POT... and check to see how much of the roots are bunched together.. it may need anew pot of bark chips just 2 inches all around bigger pot than it was in.. and repack it rinse off all the other stuff it was in .. give it a slight drink.. 3 ice cubes when you repot it.. and give it a NORTH FACING window.. NO DRAFT.. to sit in for a little while..

If you are going to repot it, I would go a pot size smaller. It looks like the pot may be too big and that it may need new bark. We do the same thing with watering, 3 ice cubes each week and every couple of weeks I do a diluted orchid food. Our wall of orchids does amazingly well

Most orchids are killed with kindness. They actually do not need too much water; once a week is fine. I'm suspecting too much water. Use a water mister sprayer (a spray bottle with plain room temp water) to water them and water the roots, the rigid blue-gray stems sticking out of the bark. I would NOT repot it - I've found orchids really hard to repot correctly. Also check the light. Where is your plant? Orchids need bright, filtered light. The other person who has hers behind a white filmy curtain is probably giving her plant ideal light. They do best with bright, indirect light - East or West window.

It would be ideal if you could examine the roots of your orchid (it is a phalaenopsis) to make sure the roots are healthy. They should be firm to the touch, not squishy. Underwatering can cause floppy leaves like yours is showing.

NO ICE CUBES! Take it to the sink once a week and run luke warm water through it. Let it drain and be sure to dry the crown of standing water. (Q-tip) Repot it in a 4" orchid pot (one with slits in the sides for better draining) with orchid mix. Indirect sun light is best.
