Marion Nesbitt on Feb 03, 2015Pics would be nice. Are your cabs light, med. or dark oak? Is the hardwood going in light, med or dark? Should look nice if your dr floors are wood and so are your cabinets. Wouldn't go with anything too stark for your kitchen flooring - maybe a faux-stone with some of your cab colour in it. What are your existing wall colour(s) in the kitchen-dining room - and in the living room? Without knowing this, it's difficult to make a suggestion for the hall colour.Helpful Reply

Cindy Marks on Feb 03, 2015@Marion Nesbitt - Hello Marion we have hardwood throughout our house and I love it. I would carry the hardwood into the kitchen because it reads as one space and it will make the space seem larger. When choosing a paint color I have gone so far as to take a piece of the flooring and a cabinet door to the paint store to choose a color. Make sure that you bring paint chips home and try them on different walls at different times of the day to make sure you like the color in your space. The color chips read differently in the paint store and in your home.Helpful Reply

Connie Mar on Feb 03, 2015We have hardwood in our kitchen and most of our house. Big mistake for us, since we drop things, spill things a lot. When we get the money to re-do our kitchen, the wood will be replaced with something more manageable, something that can handle liquids. Someone recommended we use rugs to cover/protect the floor, but then we'd need rugs on the entire floor. Linoleum or marmoleum can be much better options for a kitchen floor, easier to wipe up and not worry about liquids damaging the wood.Helpful Reply

Loretta Clark on Feb 03, 2015I have hardwoods in the kitchen despite the chance of a leak messing it up. We really love it. It covers Kitchen, dining, living, and den and is all laid on a diagonal. But my cabinets are white and if yours are wood colored you may not want that.Helpful Reply

Sandy fogel on May 27, 2015we have engineered white oak flooring throughout - even in the kitchen. we've found its easy to take care of, one floor is easy on the eyes, makes for a good flow. the kitchen shows a bit more wear, but it's kitchen! it adds character. use chefs' mats in front of sink & stove. we had a leak but found it quickly & used a fan overnight to dry. it turned out well. its worth the.risk to have that.cohesive.look.Helpful Reply
