The 2 Seasons on Feb 04, 2015Paint the surface to look as if it is a brick surface. You can find how to paint faux bricks on line. That would add some personality to the space.Helpful Reply

D & K on Feb 04, 2015Weeds growing up between the existing pavers indicates no one installed a barrier underneath. No larger than the area is I'd remove all the pavers, rake back any existing sand, install fiberglass weed control cloth (not the cheaper nylon woven cloths) and reinstall the pavers. I'm concerned you won't be able to find an edging that will be shorter than the pavers and may have to use wood again. You might also consider when re-installing the pavers to leave a small mortar gap area between them, about 1/2 inch and once they're in place mix a fine dry sand with portland cement powder (a ration of 1 part portland to 4 parts sand), sweep it into the cracks dry and using a fine spray/mist of water, mist the entire area until the mixture is saturated being careful not to wash out any sand. Once dry the portland/sand mixture will help lock the pavers together helping eliminate the need for an edging.Helpful Reply

Marion Nesbitt on Feb 05, 2015Looks like the "kids" may be anticipating, too! Have seen recipes for home-made eco friendly weed killer. You'd have to keep repeating though. What size are the pavers? Tend to be heavy so I think it would be quite a task to do the proper thing and remove them, lay the proper barrier and then replace. Maybe you've got some "muscles" in the family to help! There is a good choice of cement border pieces you can buy, but fairly priceyHelpful Reply
