    Design-build in DC, eh? ...»

I always lobby hard for design-build method when in the introductory phase with a new client.

To me, the method keeps our beloved architects from going wild and it also forces the client to maintain constant involvement.

Looking at your unemployment stats, I'm beginning to wish I lived there.

We've been dead here (high-end) for two years.

    Wow! ...»

It's got everything, looks, space, and shade.

Great looking project. Did you build it yourself?

    Is it a kit?

Furniture: Does anyone have any suggestions with cleaning granite counterops that does not leave streaks?

I have also heard furniture polish is good for cleaning stainless, has anyone tried it.

When cleaning your granite tops, use a solution of mild soap and water and a clean cloth.

What is important is that you completely dry the countertops when finished cleaning.

Use a terry cloth towel or a microfiber cloth.

    That should do it.

Kitchens: I would like to upgrade my 30" stainless cooktop in my kitchen to a 36" cooktop.

The question is would I have to switch out the overhead vent?

The hood vent that you have now is probably a little larger than the width of the cooktop, right?

If you install a larger cooktop the same parameters apply...a little wider.

The same innerwall vent can be used (it's probably a nine inch)

The question is, what about the cabinets that are now along side the existing cooktop?

Will the new cooktop center on them, when cutting into them to drop in the cooktop, will you be cutting into a cabinet bulkhead (the part that separates the cabinet spaces inside the box)

These are some points for you to consider (if you haven't already thought of them)
