Chalk painting for the first time
-
KMS Woodworks on Dec 02, 2012I have not tried chalk paint...at least yet. I am however a big fan of Sherwin Williams paints. I feel their paints a a lot better for coverage and quality over the Behr paints. As far as waxing, when I wax my natural wood furniture I use a cotton rag as my applicator. Then buff with a dry one.Helpful Reply

Taunnie on Dec 02, 2012I ususally use Behr paint in my homemade chalk paint. I like Behr because I think it is a good quality paint for the money. I thinlk I have tried just about every paint (I have not tried Farrow and Ball). I also like the fact that Home Depot has Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore formulas on file. I usually just need the sample size of paint. This works out perfectly because it comes in a flat finish and only costs a couple of bucks. I have used both a foam brush and regular paint brush of various sizes with equal success. I usually use and old t-shirt for applying and buffing the wax but have had success with soft, old, and clean jeans. I only ever have time for one coat of paint per day so that is my experience but I have heard that you should wait at least two hours between coats. Good luck, though you don't need it, chalk paint is pretty fool-proof. Please share your pictures when you are done. Can't wait to see :)Helpful Reply
