DIY Lamp Upcycling

I inherited this ugly lamp from a previous job. My daughter thought it should go straight to GoodWill, but I had other ideas for it. :)
This is where my new found love comes in!
Yes! Chalkpaint, the brand I used is Americana Decor in Treasure. It covers anything!!
Then I purchased a lampshade from HomeGoods for 14.99 and ribbon from Michaels. I like the burlap shade with the jute ribbon and turquoise ribbon peeking through.
I used a hot glue gun to attach the ribbons. I love the way it turned out! and my daughter is glad I didn't give it to GoodWill. She has it in her home now and refers to it as her mermaid lamp. I even added a starfish to the shade for her. :) Sorry I didn't take a picture with starfish.
Enjoyed the project?

Dolores on Jul 20, 2015I like this idea. Going to be looking for some tall lamps to do this project. My living room is very large and tall ceiling which dwarfs the lamps that I have now. I love the colors available today and I really like chalk paints. This looks like a very rewarding project.
