DIY Lamp Upcycling

I inherited this ugly lamp from a previous job. My daughter thought it should go straight to GoodWill, but I had other ideas for it. :)
This is where my new found love comes in!
Yes! Chalkpaint, the brand I used is Americana Decor in Treasure. It covers anything!!
Then I purchased a lampshade from HomeGoods for 14.99 and ribbon from Michaels. I like the burlap shade with the jute ribbon and turquoise ribbon peeking through.
I used a hot glue gun to attach the ribbons. I love the way it turned out! and my daughter is glad I didn't give it to GoodWill. She has it in her home now and refers to it as her mermaid lamp. I even added a starfish to the shade for her. :) Sorry I didn't take a picture with starfish.

I like this idea. Going to be looking for some tall lamps to do this project. My living room is very large and tall ceiling which dwarfs the lamps that I have now. I love the colors available today and I really like chalk paints. This looks like a very rewarding project.
