I bought this at a 2nd hand store. I thought I would make either an ottoman or kitchen island.

Another option is a night stand. I know it's low, but with a tall lamp, it works great. I have a low trunk that I'd stuck on the other side of the bed temporarily. Then I got married, and my husband LOVES the trunk as his night stand. He can put all kinds of "stuff" on it!

Legs can be added easily. It would make a great coffee table or side table. It also would go nicely at the end of a bed.

OMG, how can't you use it! What an awesome find!! Right now, I see an entryway item. Make it a bench since it already has storage. I even love the chipped green and mismatched handles.

Put this on top of any old dresser and use in a scrapbooking studio to store ribbon on a rod on the inside of the top and store dies in the drawer. Then stencil on the out side of it with some frilly stencils and some molding paste. Some many options Have fun !!.

Interesting as a coffee table or night stand. Look on Hometalk for projects with "trunks". One will be sure to inspire you.

I was thinking those squatty ( my word), stubby, ball-like legs would look nice, putting matching knobs on the doors and use as a coffee table. If you took that extra board out of top you could even put a piece of glass on it and display pics, or doilies or maps, etc., under the glass. Neat find!

OMG - I'd have too many ideas - and would likely never make a decision - Wait! I have an old trunk (or two) that I've been meaning to do something with!!! LOL Have fun and whatever you do will be awesome!

I would sand and stain a color that compliments the existing color scheme of your home add lockable wheels on the bottom and use it as a coffee table.

Jewelry or makeup box. Perfect for sorting those items. Would paint the inside too! Keep it farmy with sanded paint finish or make it glammy with glossy paint

Attach wheels & use as a coffee table. Wheels make everything more fun.

@ That mirror sounds perfect for this! I have been racking my brain for a do-it-yourself vanity table--so when I saw your posting it all clicked. Now I'm on the hunt !

Lynne I agree with you. The bench can also be put at the foot of the bed with custom cushion on top. Extra blankets stored inside.

My grandsons would love this to stash their little Hot Wheels in...each one could have a section - no more Grandma stumbling around after stepping on one....or a jewelry box for the grandaughters' play jewelry. I have an enclosed porch that this needs to be on :-D

Personally, I would restore it completely, paint it white and put on new handles. I would then fill the small long box in top with flowers, put a quilt behind it with some hanging out the side and doilies hanging out the drawers. Final touch would be a framed picture of my sons attached to the inside of the lid. Just my idea.....

I think it would make a beautiful planter also.

Paint white, new hardware (pretty glass ones on ebay!) and a new stained top (many pre-cut, finished sizes available at home improvement stores). Add legs for a nice "catch all" in the hall or bathroom. Great find!
