Moles are tearing our yards up! Advice to get rid of them!
We would appreciate any suggestions or advice on ridding ourselves of this pest problem. We did have yards we could have grandchildren play in but no more!
Thank You.

Connie Twardize on Feb 10, 2015We purchased mole traps from tractor supply. They are in the shape of scissor. Work great. We caught between 15 - 18 last summer. Easy Mole Trap is the name. Hope it worksHelpful Reply

Andrea Lee on Feb 11, 2015Are you sure moles are the problem? There are large beetle grubs that make what looks like mole tunnels and make the lawn really bumpy. Just a possibility. Check with your county or university extension office for advice.Helpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Feb 11, 2015The mole's diet consists mostly of insects and earthworms. Trapping them is effective, but if your yard is seen as a smorgasbord, more will be back. So I recommend looking to the underlying cause of the activity before taking action. See this from the University of Missouri Extension service: http://extension.missouri.edu/p/g9440Helpful Reply

Pjg1235719 on Feb 11, 2015We had a bad mole problem and we were given a few (5) mole plants. I don't know just how it works but it works. Be careful if you use them as the spread by launching their seeds like Touch Me Not and will grow everywhere, you may want to do a little more research with your county or state extension office a wonderful free accurate information center. Good luck.Helpful Reply

Ann O'Hearn on Feb 11, 2015A product called Mole Patrol allows you to go around the yard and drop pellets where the moles are running. It works, but requires re-applying every 6-8 weeks while they are active. I always get them next to concrete walkways and driveways. Until then, be sure to go around and stamp down the grass they have displaced; it will come back. If the moles are bad, you have likely got other infestations. Moles will kill some even nastier insects that truly will destroy your yard. Prior to adding Mole Patrol to your tunnels, I would consider treating the yard with a product that that kills mole crickets, cinch bug larvae first. It wouldn't be a good thing to kill the moles and find your lawn destroyed in a week from something that was being naturally eradicated by the moles....Helpful Reply

Joseph baldwin on Feb 11, 2015You are going after the wrong pest. Moles eat grubs and beetles. Go to a garden center, tell them the issue and they will recommend a product to get rid of the pest. Since you have pets please do not use poison. If the dog or cat ingest the dead mole it can harm them as well.Helpful Reply

Leslie on Feb 11, 2015Try putting a stick of "Juicy Fruit Gum" at each opening that they have left, my uncle that was farmer had problems with moles, he said that the moles love the sugar, they eat it, it swells up and they don't know how to spit it out. It's gross but they do die. ;)Helpful Reply
