Organizing ideas for cars

Shelby @ The Weathered Barn Studio on Feb 11, 2015..I have a special ' trunk organizer', you can find them online or at places like TJMAXX/ Marshalls, etc. Its divided and I use it for keeping things in like jumper cables, paper towels, glass cleaner, a small tool kit, etc. I have an extra one ( they fold up ) to use for groceries, etc. I used to have a neat organizer that went onto the back of a car seat, I got that YEARS ago, before they became popular. I kept maps, tissues, my cloth shopping bags, etc. in there. Hope this helps.Helpful Reply

Darla on Feb 11, 2015Just having boxes in the trunk works. One for emergency supplies, one for cleaners and rags, one for oil, washer fluid and other car repair things, and one big enough to set your grocery bags in. Best of all, it's free!Helpful Reply

Joanne Fitzgerald on Feb 15, 2015My husband drives around in spring-summer with small gardening tools and a hose, some tools and a box of cd's. I gathered 3 plastic trash bins (shorter than a tall kitchen trash bin, so about 8 gallon size I think) and I tucked them in the trunk, filled them with his collection and he's good to go!Helpful Reply

Barbara Valenti on Mar 15, 2015I bought a large plastic bin @Freds. It is pushed to back of trunk then pulled forward to store my groceries.Keeps all my plastic grocery bags together. Everything is in one big box which if isn't too loaded down I carry to my kitchen to unload. Works for me!Helpful Reply

Opal on Mar 16, 2015I drive a Corolla. I keep a large & tall mesh pop up organizer 24x24x36 (Costco $14) which has 3 separate compartments that have a zip cover around the top, plus separate zip ends and then 3 pockets on each side. I keep this is directly behind the back seats in my small car out of the way. It holds a large emergency kit, 1st aid kit, flashlight, blankets, towels, water, food, gallon zip lock bags, trash bags, plates, cups, silverware, toilet paper, wipes, books, gloves, boots, socks, jacket, paper towel, window cleaner, etc. In front of that I keep a soft cooler with handles (12x12x30) and a large plastic laundry basket (12x12x20). I have been considering getting 2-3 smaller laundry baskets or plastic crates instead of the larger one because 1. it can be too heavy to carry and 2. I can stack together if I need the room for something larger which has happened. I also have a trunk liner (Walmart sale $3.) under all of this so that none of my stuff slides around and to contain anything that might spill or be wet.Helpful Reply

WebbRowan on Jan 27, 2016The best way to organize a car is to use large plastic storage containers with lids to store all the knick-knacks lying loosely in the trunk. The plastic material is waterproof so your things get contained safely and the lid ensures your things stay exactly where they are.Helpful Reply
